Bah. I’ll take Google seriously in the software arena when it has the guts (although I’d rather use a part of my anatomy) to release a product with an actually version.
The have a good search engine but their software initiatives are all over the map with little cohesiveness or synergy. It’s more like… “hmm we need to compete in the drawing market so lets just buy SketchUp.” Fair enough, buying a product for a market niche makes alot of sense but currently their applications do not integrate together? Neither in functionality nor User Interface.
Perhaps they are working to that goal but it looks to be many many years down the road.
Based on Google’s track record I think it’s far more likely we will see them buying out some carrier/phone supplier before developing their own.
