Ancient Consciousness #2

After I wrote the earlier commentary and went back and read it several “other thoughts” came to mind regarding the Piri Ries map that I spoke of in the Ancient Consciousness commentary. And while this young twenty-something Admiral copied his map from a source we’re not familiar with, other maps affirm that there’s been knowledge and travel in our world that goes beyond myth!

The Piri Reis map was discovered on my birthday in 1929 by Malil Edhim, director of the Turkish National Museum in the old Imperial Palace at Constantinople. To add further intrigue and romance to the find, the map was painted on a gazelle skin and rolled up on a dusty shelf.

What we now know is the such precise information, coming out of the 1500′s (when he copied it), had to use spherical trigonometry in their mathematical measurements as well as use ultra modern cartographical projections. But how? How did they (whomever they were-are) know the correct size of the earth.

And if this information was available pre-1500′s when Reis copied it, how brave was Christopher Columbus anyway in 1492 when he sailed the oceans blue. Was he really afraid of falling off the end of the earth as he set sail for lands unknown? Talk about myths!

So, when were the original maps drawn that Reis copied?

Charles Hutchins Hapgood (1904-1982) was an American academician who developed the theory that there was an advanced civilization, long before 4,000BCE, believes that the Venetians found one of the maps when Constantiople was sacked during the Crusade of 1204. His futher theorizes that an advanced civilization, “explored Antartica when its coasts were free of ice and that they travelled from pole to pole with ease and sophistication.”

The last ice age ended about 13,000 years ago, give or take a century or two. Isn’t that half of 26,000?

The Piri Reis map doesn’t stand alone though. The Orontius Fineus map discovered in 1531 showed Antartica with flowing rivers where now mile thick glaciers flow. The Hadji  Ahmed map of 1559 showed the ice age land bridge between Siberia and Alaska. The Andrea Beinicasa map of 1508 showed most of Northern Europe in the grasp of ice. And so on. Our history isn’t what we’re being taught!

And can you believe there are Christians who believe (as James Ussher proclaimed) the earth was created in seven days on October 23, 4004 BCE?

I can’t!   :-(

As a spiritual-futurist my commentaries and articles deal primarily with an interpretation of current events in light of macro-universal forces at play.
