How Do Computer Languages Like Python Get Profit?

Tuesday, April 21st, 2009

Hi, I am developing a 3rd party language and its in the design and development stage, so far it’s working very well.
I plan on having it for mobile technology. (I.E Iphone, Samsung, Robotics). For hobbies and or beginners that want something small they can install on their laptops to make software apps for fun.
I kinda want to get a profit out of it, but how does places like Python or Perl gain money to keep doing research, instead of donation supporting it? Or is it all huge donations from places like NASA or company’s helping funding research on it?
Thanks, Andrew

Hello Indian Engineers And Engineering Students.you Have Much More Responsibility.why Running After It Jobs?

Monday, April 20th, 2009

So much unneccassary progress is being made in the software?IT and electronics field when there are other much much more important fields where a lot of development is to be made-the power cut problem being the main one.If the amount of manpower that is being employed in the IT development is employed towards the solution of core problems of electricity, infrastructure, etc.,then India would be a world leader. So many alternative sources of energy are to be found and harnesed and much research is required in this field rather than making shorter and shorter mobile phones and robots and other unneccassary things.Your views?

Course Concerns Computer Science?

Sunday, April 19th, 2009

I’m on a “computer science (games programming)” BCs (Hons) course at Kingston University, London which I started in September. The course is clearly well funded, we have a room full of PSP dev kits and some X-Box’s. This computer science with games programming course itself is only 1 and 1/2 years old, as is a games technology course at the same university. Only trouble is, I’ve got almost double the required UCAS points and I’ve already done plenty of games programming in C++ before I got here – which means assignments are often very easy for me. I guess this is good because at least I know I’ll get a good degree at the end of it, but I worry about whether I should of chosen a university higher up the league table. I wouldn’t worry about this if it wasn’t for the fact that some of the lectures are a bit… rubbish?
The games and programming modules are probably well taught (but too easy for me) but some of the others are just weak. I thought, well these modules will change in the second semester – but one of the new modules, in particular one called ‘ICT’ is about slotting together a computer, most nerds learn to do this at 15! A whole module dedicated to that, and we don’t even get to physically put it together we just write the spec. sheet :s – this isn’t what I want to do a career in! There’s also other modules which I don’t like, and most things are assessed as group projects – it feels like I’m having to carry other people. This university doesn’t seem to be very well known, I wonder if employers will think less of my degree because of that?
So…
I’m wondering whether to change from Computer Science (Games Programming) to Games Technology because that focuses more on games and programming modules which I like – although even employers in the highly competitive games industry might prefer people who have the more traditional degree in computer science. I might even change to a university higher up the league table such as City University London if they’ll let me in on the second year. It’s a shame I didn’t know much about universities or league tables before I applied and I would of applied to different universities if I had – lecturers at college should help us with this stuff more.
One of the things that most concerns me about Kingston is that at City they do C++ in the first year, where’s at Kingston they’re only going to do a light brushing of C in the first year, then C++ the next. Is this a sign that Kingston’s course isn’t as advanced? Still I’d recommend Kingston for most people as it is a nice place, and I’m only in the first year so I can’t be sure what to make of it :D
Any Advise?

A Little Networking Project?

Saturday, April 18th, 2009

Introduction
You are the Network Manager at a major finance company. The company operates from a
single Head Office and employs two classes of sales staff who work from their homes.
Recently, the Management has set aside a budget to equip its sales force with a mixture of
portable notebook PCs and Personal Digital Assistants (PDAs) so that staff can provide
appropriate advice to customers and also create suitable quotes for the company’s products.
As part of this development the sales staff will need to communicate electronically with head
office.
Senior Sales Staff
These members of the sales force will be supplied with a suitable Notebook PC and portable
printer so that they can deliver the company’s message via a PowerPoint presentation,
compile and print suitable quotations for insurance products, check a central database for
available products, perform queries on existing customer records, send and receive e-mail,
and complete sales orders online.
Normal Sales Staff
These staff members will be supplied with a suitable PDA which will allow them to perform
the following tasks; check a central database for available products, perform queries on
existing customer records, send and receive e-mail, and upload completed sales orders.
Note that the key function for both types of user is the ability to communicate with the
company’s central system and therefore the establishment of an appropriate secure data
communications method is of paramount importance.
However, before this can be achieved the expenditure has to be fully justified and a project
plan has to be produced to cover the expected work involved in the implementation of the
new system.
Aims
To produce a feasibility report outlining the case for the provision of a remote working
system within the company and to develop a comprehensive project plan for its
implementation. These two documents will form the basis of a presentation to the
management in order to convince them that the proposed solution is justifiable and practical.
In addition, you are required to produce a brief report detailing the role of Network Manager
in the proposed project.
This assignment has been designed to ensure that you are familiar with the various aspects of
designing, planning, and implementing such a system of remote working within an
organisation.

Task 1
Produce a report which outlines the benefits of implementing a remote working system for
the company. In your report you should:
• list the potential requirements of the basic scenario outlined in the Introduction
• explain the advantages and possible disadvantages of implementing a remote
working system within the company
• make estimates of the various costs of implementing a remote working system – remember
that, as well as the initial costs of buying the equipment, there will be costs associated
with security, support and maintenance, for example. (There may well be other costs and
benefits that you identify.)
Task 2
Produce a comprehensive project plan for the implementation of a remote working system
within the company. This should include the following:
• a brief overview of current data communication technologies which may be employed
including both wired and wireless solutions (detail both hardware and software required)
• a design for a suitable communications network using an appropriate topology for the
requirements of the company
• a list of the hardware and software required for the company’s remote working system,
• a schedule for the installation of cabling, communications links, hardware, network
operating system and associated applications software.
Task 3
Write a brief report detailing the various rights and responsibilities for your role as the
Network Manager in charge of the mobile communications project

I Have An Essay, However, I Am A New Learner To English, Who Can Edit It For Me?

Nowadays, there is a general discussion over the safety of personal privacy in communication. More and more people are worried about their privacy while they are using mobile phone, e-mail, and instant messaging software (MSN) to communicate. At the same time, it must be noted that no one could avoid using modern communication.
There is no denying the fact that privacy is really a problem, when it comes to modern communication. Along with the development of technology, especially the communication technique, it is not difficult for experts to achieve information from people’s daily communication. Experts still can utilize software to find the data easily, even people delete e-mails or the files which is used to store messages for MSN. The improvement of communication brings about not only convenience but the concern of privacy.
In view of the serious situation, effective measures should be taken before things get worse. Firstly, people ought to be careful when they use public computers to send or receive e-mail. Secondly, it is not suggested for people to give password, contact number, and home address in e-mail or instant messaging software. Finally, upgrade the antivirus software frequently.
The safety of privacy in communication has caused wide public concern. Any one should pay attention to the problem, otherwise they would pay a heavy price.

What Is User-centered Design And Ui?

Friday, April 17th, 2009

User-centered design (UCD) is an approach for employing usability. It is a structured product development methodology that involves users throughout all stages of Web site development, in order to create a Web site that meets users’ needs. This approach considers an organization’s business objectives and the user’s needs, limitations, and preferences.
UI
Usability measures the quality of a user’s experience when interacting with a product or system—whether a Web site, a software application, mobile technology, or any user-operated device.
